Coach Lonto leads the RMES Physical Education program with purpose and passion—emphasizing far more than just “gym time.” His approach is carefully designed to help students develop age-appropriate physical skills while understanding the value of health and fitness through active movement. 

Whether students win, lose, or place somewhere in between, Coach Lonto consistently reinforces the importance of reflecting Christ's character in every action. From Kindergarten to 8th grade, students learn that their bodies are wonderfully made by God to do amazing things.

Originally from Takoma Park, Maryland, Coach Lonto is a proud graduate of Takoma Academy (Class of ’85—Go Tigers!) and a lifelong fan of D.C.-based sports teams including the Terps, Orioles, Capitals, and the Commanders. He deeply values being part of the Ruth Murdoch community and teaching in a school that puts Christ at the center of everything it does.

The early years of education shape more than just school readiness—they shape identity, confidence, and a lifelong approach to learning. At Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, we recognize that what happens in these formative years lays the groundwork for how a child thinks, relates, and thrives. Here, education is more than academics.
