More than a school
From music and outdoor learning to chapel and Spanish class, student life at RMES nurtures the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—within a caring, Christ-centered community.

Where character grows and faith comes alive.
At Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, spiritual formation is more than a class—it's a way of life. From daily worship and classroom devotionals to weekly chapel services, students are continually invited to develop a personal relationship with Christ and apply His teachings to their daily experiences.
One of the school’s most impactful faith-building traditions is the TENT Program (Teens for Evangelism, Nurture, and Training)—an annual student-led evangelistic series. Through mentorship and guided preparation, upper-grade students take ownership of the entire event, preaching, planning, and leading worship. The experience instills confidence, cultivates leadership, and empowers young people to share their faith meaningfully and publicly.
In addition to personal discipleship, RMES students participate in service and outreach projects that teach them the joy and responsibility of helping others. Whether supporting a food drive, encouraging a classmate, or engaging in school-led initiatives, students learn that serving like Jesus begins now.
Student-Led. Spirit-Filled. Life-Changing.
Each year, our students take center stage—literally. The TENT Evangelistic Series is a unique opportunity for RMES students to preach, lead worship, and organize an entire outreach event from start to finish. Through mentorship and spiritual growth, they don’t just learn about leadership—they live it.
Fostering creativity, culture, and self-expression.
RMES believes that learning comes to life when students are given room to explore their talents and passions. Our dynamic music program offers opportunities for students to participate in general music, private lessons, and group ensembles such as Beginning Band, Concert Band, Bell & Chimes Choirs, RMES Singers, and the String Orchestra. These groups focus on musical growth, performance excellence, and sharing God’s love through music.
Our visual arts program encourages creative expression through drawing, painting, and hands-on projects. Students develop technical skills while exploring their imagination and understanding how art connects to worship, culture, and communication.
Spanish instruction introduces students to new languages and global perspectives in engaging and developmentally appropriate ways—preparing them for a more connected world.

Every child carries incredible potential. At Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, we create the kind of environment where that potential is nurtured—where students are seen, challenged, and inspired to grow into thoughtful leaders, compassionate friends, and courageous followers of Christ.
Give your child more than an education. Give them a foundation that lasts a lifetime.
Igniting minds through STEM and hands-on discovery.
Academic excellence at RMES goes beyond traditional instruction. Our STEM program integrates hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math—encouraging students to explore, question, and experiment in meaningful ways.
One of our most distinctive offerings is the Junior High Mini-Course Program, unique to RMES. Students in grades 7–8 register for six rotating mini-courses each quarter—up to 24 per year—giving them exposure to a wide range of subjects beyond the core curriculum.
These 40-minute courses help students broaden their interests and explore new skills in preparation for high school, college, and beyond.
Classrooms are equipped with modern learning tools and technology to support personalized learning and academic achievement at every grade level.

A safe, joyful space for learning, movement, and growth.
Student life at RMES is built around nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Our robust Physical Education program is carefully structured across all grades, helping students develop age-appropriate motor skills, learn teamwork, and grow in physical literacy. In partnership with FitnessGram, the Presidential Youth Fitness Program, and the State of Michigan, students also learn healthy habits and how to honor God by caring for their bodies.
For students in grades 5–8, the Intramural Sports Program offers structured competition in a supportive, Christ-centered environment. Whether they win or lose, students are taught the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and representing Christ’s character in every interaction.
Beyond academics, RMES provides opportunities to build friendships, discover new interests, and grow through clubs, outdoor play, and community-building activities. Families are invited to engage regularly with the school through volunteer events, parent groups, and spiritual life opportunities—helping to ensure that every child thrives in a village of care and connection.

The early years of education shape more than just school readiness—they shape identity, confidence, and a lifelong approach to learning. At Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, we recognize that what happens in these formative years lays the groundwork for how a child thinks, relates, and thrives. Here, education is more than academics. It’s the cultivation of curiosity, the strengthening of resilience, and the daily experience of being seen and supported. In classrooms filled with purpose and encouragement, students begin to understand not just what they can achieve—but who they are in Christ.
