Mrs. Jina Yoon was born in Korea and moved to the United States at the age of three. As the daughter of a pastor, she lived in various states before graduating from Andrews University and beginning her teaching career at Ruth Murdoch Elementary School.

Having experienced the challenges of being different in a public school setting - including teasing related to her appearance, food, and clothing -Mrs. Yoon deeply values the inclusive, multicultural environment at RMES.

She finds joy in learning from the diverse families within the school community and takes pride in being part of a place where every student is welcomed, celebrated, and embraced for who they are.

The early years of education shape more than just school readiness—they shape identity, confidence, and a lifelong approach to learning. At Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, we recognize that what happens in these formative years lays the groundwork for how a child thinks, relates, and thrives. Here, education is more than academics. It’s the cultivation of curiosity, the strengthening of resilience, and the daily experience of being seen and supported. In classrooms filled with purpose and encouragement, students begin to understand not just what they can achieve—but who they are in Christ.
